Cameroon’s U17 lions have been crowned the champions of the 5th edition of the UNIFFAC cup and at the same time, have qualified for the African cup of Nations for their category, which will take place in Tunisia in 2019.
The final of the UNIFFAC cup which took place in Yaounde, was played between Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo on Thursday 12 April.
The host country emerged the champions, thanks to Moktar Oumate’s goal at the 39th minute of the encounter.
On the same day the success was recorded, the world football governing body FIFA, published their rankings of football nations in the world for the month of April, and Cameroon did not witness any improvement.
For the world classification, they remain 51st, in spite of their 3-1 win over Kuwait in their last friendly.
In Africa, they dropped from the 6th to the 7th spot. Cameroon is behind, Tunisia, Senegal, DR Congo, Morocco, Egypt and Nigeria.
Germany remain the leaders of the world followed by Brazil, Belgium, Portugal and Argentina.
