Compared with the 665,947 refugees registered by the same organization in January 2018, there is a decrease in the refugee population in Cameroon, of the order of 6,140 persons.
Cameroon News Today- CNT learned that this reduction is explained by the voluntary returns of Nigerian refugees, with the lull observed in parts of this country, formerly controlled by members of the Boko Haram sect.
In accordance with UNHCR, this population of refugees settled in Cameroon could increase in the coming weeks, because of the “significant increase in arrivals of new refugees at the Gourounguel transit center in the Far North Region of Cameroon”.
