Trade unionist of the transport sector in Cameroon have annulled the strike action that was called nationwide for this Monday April 9, 2018.

The agreement leading to the cancellation of the said strike action was reached at by the Minister of Transport Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe after an arduos discussion with representatives of Trade unions. The meeting was took place at the Ministry of Transport last Friday April 6, 2018.

“We the national trade unionist of the road transport sector of Cameroon have decided to call of the strike action announced for Monday April 9, 2018…”

These trade unionist had called on a strike action following the killing of one of theirs by gendarme officers of the Ngousso neighbourhood found in Yaoundé.

The taxi driver had a slight misunderstanding with security officials which led to his demise. These unfortunate event had triggered nationwide compassion leading to the incarceration of the gendarme officers involved and the sacking of the Commander of the said gendarmerie unit.

 “We call on all our members to work normally and we thank the Government of the Republic for the attention paid to our concerns” Francois Ngah, President of the Trade Union mentioned while reading the final communiqué.

More so, it was agreed that Students in driving schools will not more produce the sum of 5, 000FCFA as formally required by driving schools in Cameroon, in other to get in touch with their drivers licence. Concerning this specific request, the State of Cameroon through the Transport Boss has decided to pay the said amount.
