The minister of Teritorial Administration Paul AtangaNji has declared that detained leaders of the self-styled Ambazonian government are doing great. Some of them have even gained weight, he added.
The new minister of interior was speaking on state-run television channel CRTV on Sunday. Minister Atanga Nji does not seem to have a nice reputation in the two English-speaking regions of Cameroon. He fell out with the people when he declared that there was no Anglophone problem in the country during the very begin of the unrest.
Mr Sissiku Ayuk Tabe and several other Ambazonian separatists were arrested last year in Nigeria. Since then their whereabouts and wellbeing have remained a mystery to many. Mr Sissiku is the first president of the interim government of ‘the Federal Republic of Ambazonia.
Speculation has been growing of late that they have been executed. But the government has always rubbished any rumours.
“Those separatists are alive. When the time comes, people will see them… Why are people in haste? Some separatists extradited from Nigeria who weighed 70kg weigh 85kg or 90kg today. That shows that they are well fed. Besides, doctors visit them…”, the minister disclosed.
Critics may likely want to take this with a pinch of salt. They might argue that it is not very practical that people who have been deprived of everything including contact with their intimate ones would feel even better.
The public is waiting to see them and judge for themselves.
