The presidential release ordering the discontinuation of proceedings in military courts against some 289 persons detained for their connection with the ongoing Anglophone crisis will take effect from today December 14, 2018.
The decision which was made public yesterday December 13 will be implemented by the Minister Delegate at the presidency in charge of defence Joseph Beti Assomo.
The beneficiaries of the presidential clemency will be released today December 14, at the end of hearings at the military courts concerned.
They include 14 persons detained in Bafoussam, 49 in Bamenda, 99 in Buea, 14 in Douala and 120 in Yaoundé.
The list of the 289 persons concerned shall be published at the end of today’s hearing.
Worthy of note is the fact that the release does not concern criminals, murderers and other dangerous persons including the sponsors and planners of the security crisis in the two English speaking regions of the country.
