YES Cameroon moves from theory to practical after 10years of offering entrepreneurial training to Cameroonian youths by sourcing finance for the already knowledgeable Cameroonian entrepreneurs.

Breaking away from the much talk of entrepreneurship in Cameroon without providing the necessary finance to concretise the sector, YES Cameroon organises the International Crowd Funding and Business Angel Forum.

The two day Forum which is ongoing at the ST Muna Foundation under theme; “Innovating Financing for Start-ups and SMEs in Africa” has been initiated to brainstorm and see what concrete proposals to put in place a policy guide which will help small and medium size enterprises and start-ups grow.

“For the past 10years we have been focusing on training and through our sensitisation we discovered that one of the greatest challenges for young people is finance. So we want to put in place alternative means as our traditional banks do not give out loans to young people because they do not have guarantee. So we think this forum is an alternative that young people can exploit”, Managing Director of YES Cameroon Gilbert Ewemeh highlighting the raison d’être and importance of the Forum.

Other keynote speakers in the Forum like the Israeli Ambassador to Cameroon HE Ran Gidor also established the timeliness and necessity of the Forum: “Thanks to start-ups, unemployment and poverty will be reduced; and without finance, these start-ups cannot make, thus the necessity of this Forum” the Ambassador said.

“At a time Cameroon like other countries of West Africa is focusing on exporting more of unfinished products and which is to their disfavour; also at a time when we want to diversify our economy but we do not know how to do it, plus not knowing how to use finance for economic growth in Cameroon, the International Crowd Funding Angel Forum is very essential”, stated the Representative of the Director of UNECA present in the Forum, Julian R. Stolman.

With participants drawn from the National territory, the Forum will connect them to finance experts and guideline will be established for their start-ups and SMEs to grow.

As Cameroon News Today- CNT gathered, YES Cameroon is a social enterprise with main objective to support and to promote SMEs and start-ups in Cameroon. It focuses on entrepreneurship after realising that entrepreneurship is the key.
