Cameroon’s participation has come to an end in Australia, where the 21st edition of the Commonwealth games is taking place.
As the Cameroonian delegation will be leaving the host city Gold Coast, they have three medals obtained by Wilfried Seyi in boxing (silver), Marcel Mayak and Clementine Meukeugni Nouombissi who both had bronze medals.
The three medals grabbed this year occur like a coincidence given that, still for the commonwealth games in Melbourne Australia, but during the 18th edition in 2006, Cameroon also ended the competition with 3 medals.
Still during the 2006 edition of the games, 9 Cameroonian athletes disappeared whereas this year, 8 athletes have been confirmed missing.
Cameroon was recognised as a member of the Commonwealth in 1995, and began participating in the sporting activities of the organisation in 1998, during the 16th edition.
The best performance of Cameroon in the Commonwealth games was recorded in 2002 in Manchester, where they had 12 medals, 9 in gold, 1 in silver and 2 in bronze.
