A ceremony to mark the 70th International Human Rights Day in Cameroon is underway this December 10, at the amphi theatre of the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM).
The ceremony is being chaired by the chairman of the National Commission of Human Rights and Freedoms Dr Chemuta Divine Mbanda.
According to the commission’s 2017 report, despite efforts made by the state to promote human rights in Cameroon, 1113 complains of human rights violations were filed into the commission.
These cases of violation include kidnappings, highway robbery, arbitrary arrests and torture among others.
This celebration of the 70th International Human Rights Day comes to crown the 16 days of activism against violence on women and girls which started on November 24 under the theme “orange your world, #HearMeToo”.
