The government of Cameroon through the Minister of Communication Issa Tchiroma Bakari has reaffirmed her determination to reduce accidents and deaths resulting from clandestine transportation in the country.
This reassurance was made in Yaoundé in the late hours of Wednesday November 5 2018, in a press conference chaired by Communication Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary.
Speaking in the press conference, Minster Tchiroma Bakari in the company of his counterparts of Transport Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe and Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji outlined a series of measures being implemented to curb the phenomenon.
Speaking to the media, Minister Issa Tchiroma revealed that for the past eight years, 22,314 material accidents have occurred on roads with a total of about 8669 deaths.
For this reason, the Prime Minister and head of Government Philemon Yang has prescribed that legal measures provided in the area should be used to provide sound and detailed regulation of road transport.
He said the Prime Minister has instructed the National Committee for the fight against clandestine transport to take all appropriate measures to curb the activity.
