The representative of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) in the upcoming presidential elections in Cameroon, has been elected in the person of 49-year old Joshua Osih.

Osih’s candidature was certain after the declaration of the results of the primaries in Bamenda on Saturday 24 February, during the 9th Convention of the SDF.

Joshua Osih with 88.39%, beat Forbi Nchinda on 11.61%. The third candidate on that day, Joseph Mbah Ndam stepped down a few moments to the primaries.

The Vice president of the SDF, takes over the battle against Biya who is the main opponent in the October presidential elections, after Ni John aged 76, announced that he will not run for this year’s elections.

In spite of the fact that he will no longer contest for the presidency of Cameroon, he remains the head of the main opposition party of the country.

Fru Ndi has been the main opposition in elections against Biya three times, 1992, 2004 and 2011. In 1997 he boycotted the elections.

Joshua Osih, now as the flag bearer of the SDF, has said he will tour all of the 366 constituencies in the country to mobilise supporters before the elections.
