The eldest member of Cameroons senate, Nfon Victor E Mukete believes that a 10 State federalism is the answer to the Anglophone problem.

In an interview granted Jeune Afrique, one of the most influential figures of the Anglophone community, paramount chief of the Barfaw in the South West region of Cameroon, Nfon Mukete, says the strong centralized State has frustrated both Anglophones and Francophones in Cameroon.

The close to 100 years old economic guru says his knowledge and experience of Cameroon pushes him to chose federalism as a solution to the ongoing Anglophone crisis, “ we need a 10 States federalism, it should be implemented as soon as we have the financial capabilities to do that, I’m sure the President will accept this idea”.

Going by Chief Mukete, “non of the Anglophone prime Ministers were powerful enough to raise the alarm bell on the frustrations the Anglophone community was facing… only about 10 Anglophones out of the close to 60 members of government, no Anglophone can say he is happy with that, solutions to these frustration were supposed to be looked upon before things turned into what they are today”.

Cameroon News Today-CNT learned that, not long ago, Mukete was summoned by the delegate for national security to answer to allegations he wanted to divide the country.

The paramount Chief of the Barfaw in the South West region might not be heading in for another mandate at the Cameroonian Senate as he mandate comes to an end this 2018.
